Most people think if they have a citronella candle with a big flame in a big pot it will keep the bugs away.  It does not work that way.  The way to keep bugs away is to blanket the activity area. 

Placement and number of Bug-Off Candles is important.  Also you need to allow the candle to become a fragrance generator.  You need to light you candles 1/2 hour before  you can enjoy a bug free area.  To do justice to a 15 x 20 foot area you need at least three candles.
